Bumbleberry Crisp
Ingredients
for the filling
- 1 15 oz can tart cherries drained (see note below about fruit selection)
- 1 lb frozen blackberries
- 2 medium apples peeled, cored, sliced (one Granny Smith and one Golden Delicious)
- 3/4 to 1 C sugar
- 1 T flour heaping
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 t cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of cloves
for the topping
- 3 oz chopped pecans
- 3/4 C flour
- 2 C rolled oats
- 1 C dark brown sugar
- 1 1/3 stick unsalted butter melted
- 1/4 t cinnamon or a bit more
- dash of nutmeg
- dash of cloves
- two dashes of salt
Instructions
- Oven to 350.
- Combine the filling ingredients and pour into a suitably-sized baking dish. A Fiesta two-quart serving bowl is just right.
- Combine the topping ingredients and stir until the butter and sugar are incorporated.
- Pour the topping over the filling and pack lightly.
- Bake until fruit is tender and bubbly, and the top is lightly browned, about 45 minutes.
